Morris Hallowell's Stereo Equipment Stand
The uprights are forged from 1 ¼” square solid iron bar, with upset feet and
fishtail-scrolled finials. The corner brackets are forged from 1 ½” x
3/8”
flat iron. The shelves are 3” thick, re-sawn from a 150-year-old, hand-adzed,
slotted-and-peg-jointed solid maple barn beam---so it ought to be sufficiently
aged. The feet are machined solid brass 3” in diameter---a material known for
its vibration-dampening properties---the legs and feet drilled and tapped for
1/2" all-thread studs buffered with tar-based constrained-layer dampening
material.
