Abesser & Merkel Blitz-Action Drilling with Sideplates 16ga, 16ga & .22 Hornet
26" barrels of Bohler Blitz steel with full-length matted rib, sling swivel and pop-up U-notch rear sight, choked full & full. 14 1/8" pull from front single-set trigger to original game-scene-embossed horn buttplate. 1 9/16" - 2 3/8" drop. Fine, burl figured, and well marbled European walnut stock with Deeley-release horn-tipped splinter forend, full pistol grip with sunburst horn gripcap, beaded pancake cheekpiece, point pattern checkering with double line and mullered borders, blued steel cartridge trap with space for four cartridges, sling loop and silver oval engraved "P" on the toe line. Case hardened Blitz action with sideplates, rifle/shotgun selector on top tang, Greener side safety, pin type cocking indicators, Greener crossbolt third fastener, side clips, slight bolsters to action, and front single-set trigger. Action engraved with acanthus borders and well cut medium scroll with oakleaf highlights. Bottom of action is marked "Abesser & Merkel" "SUHL" "GERMANY". Sideplates are also scroll engraved which frames circular vignettes of game; a royal stag ambles through woodlands on left plate, and a trio of pheasant are in mountain scene on right. Hensoldt 4x Zieljagd scope with crosshair reticle on quick-detachable soldered-on claw mounts. 2 1/2" Shotgun chambers. Weight with scope: 8lbs, 2oz. Built 1937. Excellent condition, nearly new. Barrels retain nearly all of their original blue. Action retains nearly all of its original case hardening color with some slight silvering on beads and fences. Top tang is also slightly silvered, as is the blue on thumbpiece of top lever and trigger guard. Stocks retain nearly all their original finish with a few minor marks and scratches, as expected from limited field use. All bores are excellent, bright and shiny throughout. Action is tight. Scope finish is beginning to brown. Optics are clear. In Abercrombie & Fitch leather trunk case with stitched leather corners and brown canvas leather trimmed outer cover. Case is excellent, with only a few minor scuffs.
