Forend Tip 

Forend Tip - Colloquially meaning the forward end of a wooden stock made of some contrasting material---such as buffalo horn or ebony---serving no functional purpose except for aesthetics. (Although it can refer simply to the plain wood at the forward end or synthetic material if the stock is so made.) In this case, an ebony forend tip.
