Description: 25" SxS chopper-lump barrels of Poldi Anticorro steel with full raised solid matted rib, fine front bead and pop-up twilight bead, 1 folding leaf sight alternately for 100 or 200 meters and acanthus scroll engraving at the muzzles. 14" pull. Twin, single-set triggers. Fully figured, oil-finished walnut stock with classic mullered-border point-pattern checkering, beaded pancake cheekpiece, thin Silvers red rubber recoil pad, horn-capped pistol-grip cap, Anson-pushbutton-release splinter forend, long lower tang, gold oval engraved with the seven-point coronet over the initial "S" and sling swivels. Holland & Holland-style scroll engraving on casehardened receiver with bushed firing pins, side clips, double underbites, intercepting sears, Holland & Holland-type concealed third fastener and [automatic] SAFE in gold. Weight: 8lbs, 2oz. Built in Vienna, in the English style in 1925. Delivered to the Baronet Styrena in 1926. With superb quality and in immaculate condition retaining 99% barrel blue and 98% casehardening colors. Tight. Excellent bores. In English leather motor case with Springer trade label.
From Springer's order book: 10152 Edwin Svestberg, St. Petersburg Hammerless Double Rifle, Holland and Holland system with ejectors in calibre 9.3mm, for 3.5 grams military flake powder and expanding or brass-jacketed bullets. Barrels fabricated from Poldi Anticorro steel, sight system in accordance with customer’s drawing. Regulated with rear sight for 100 meters with flip-up second leaf for 200 meters, both with fine front bead. Fine front sight with silver bead, larger flip-up “night” front sight. Rear tang Safety not automatic. Double Purdey underbolts and sideclips. Forend with Purdey pushbutton. Trigger for the right barrel without set, left barrel crisp trigger with set. Dark, pretty wood stock with the following measurements: Length 360, 345, 365 mm, Drop 40 and 55, cast off 8 mm. Pistol grip and triggerguard engraved with gold monogram E.S. Engraving in style of Holland. The rifle must be first class manufactured, finest workmanship, finest deep Holland engraving – gun must shoot outstandingly, especially both barrels together. After completion it is to be delivered to the customer through the Warsaw Hunting Club. Accompanying ammunition has yet to be ordered.
