Colt Single Action Army .45 Colt $1,695

Antique, First Generation

4 3/4" barrel. Nickel. Smooth one-piece ivory grips. Black powder frame.

Round bullseye ejector rod head. All matching numbers on frame,

triggerguard, blackstrap, cylinder & barrel. C inspector mark inside V-notch

hammer slot. Last patent date July 2, 1872. Mfd 1876. Old re-nickel. Hammer

a later replacement. Original barrel, slightly shortened, with decent bore.

Properly timed.

Alexander Henry Hammer Falling Block .450 3 1/4" BPE $7,950

Single Shot Stalking Rifle

27" round Henry-rifled barrel of fluid steel with block-mounted fine bead

front sight, 1 standing and 1 folding platinum-lined leaf sights. 14"pull from

checkered trigger to checkered steel trapdoor buttplate. Barrel Patent Use

No. 1454. Action Patent Use No. 352. Highly figured English walnut stocks

with horn forend tip, escutcheoned key fastener, classic point-pattern

checkering, sling eyes, scroll engraved steel pistol grip cap and vacant

silver initial oval. Fine scroll engraved receiver and sidelock action with left

hammer and stalking safety. Weight: 6lbs, 13oz. Built 1869. 98% blue. Faint 

traces casehardening colors. Crisp engraving. Excellent bore.

Isaac Hollis & Sons Hammer Toplever Sidelock .450 #1 & 16ga $7,450

Cape Gun

26" SxS damascus barrels with flat matted solid rib, fine bead front sight and

3 folding platinum-lined leaf sights engraved for 100, 200 & 300 yards.

Figured English walnut stock with horn forend tip, Deeley-release splinter

forend, classic point-pattern checkering with mullered borders, horn-capped

pistol grip, vacant brass oval, and original makers monogram checkered

hardrubber buttplate. Peninsular sidelock hammer toplever action with non-

rebounding hammers, double triggers, percussion fences, active doll's head

third fastener and extended bottom tang. Sling eyes on barrel and rear of

buttstock. Pull: 14 1/8". Weight: 8lbs, 6oz. 95% barrel brown. 70% original

casehardening colors. 90% original triggerguard and tang high-polish blue.

Excellent Metford-rifled and smooth shotgun bore. With loading data.


Steven Dodd Hughes California Half-Stock .54 calibre $6,875

Percussion Rifle

32" hooked-breech slightly-tapered full-octagon barrel by Lynn Weimer

with deep-cut 1:60 twist rifling to stabilize a round ball, percussion-fenced

breechblock, blade front sight, base for (included) Rocky Mountain rear

sight, custom tang peep sight, and with brass-tipped ramrod retained by

double thimbles. Stocked in well-cured French walnut with cast-in-place

pewter forend tip, escutcheoned key fastener, steel triggerguard with

pineapple finial and pistol-grip tang, classic borderless flat-top checkering,

beaded cheekpiece, inletted patchbox and toeplate---both with pineapple

finials, and crescent steel buttplate. Bar-action sidelock action by Griffith

Tool Co., with double-set triggers by Walter Cain. Engraved by Mark Drain.

Maker's gold-inlaid SDH cartouche at breech. Pull: 13 7/8". Drop: 1 5/8" - 2

3/4". Cast-off: 1/2". Weight: 8lbs, 11oz. Blued barrel, casehardened lock,

breechblock and patchbox, and with registered and fire-blued screws.

Completed in 1987; the prototype for Steven Hughes series of nine

California rifles. Very little used---although two blacktail deer were taken

with the rifle by the maker, Steven Hughes. Pictured on the cover of GUNS

Magazine, April 1989, a copy of which, amongst other paperwork, is



Charles Lancaster Four-Barrel Pistol .476 Eley $14,975

Four, 6" drop-down, Lancaster-oval-bore barrels with nickel silver blade

front sight. Broad V-notch rear sight. Left-side thumb-lever double-top-latch

barrel release. Automatic simultaneous ejection. Tranter-type double-action

advance via folding trigger spur extending through detachable

triggerguard, and with single-action firing. Checkered walnut birdshead

grips. Striated backstrap. Lanyard loop. Assembly number 33 on various

internal small parts. Barrel set mostly turned brown and frame blue

flaked to about 50%. But, breech face shows no sign of the pistol ever

having been fired. All bores simply excellent. Excellent mechanical

condition. From the Lancaster records, pistol #8344 was sold in November

1892 to James Herbert Gustavus Meredyth (Lord Athlumley) who was at

that time a Lieutenant in the Coldstream Guards. In late 1892 he was

attached to, and serving with, the Egyptian Army.


Charles Lancaster Hammer Toplever Sidelock 16ga, 2 3/4" $1,725

30" single round barrel of fluid steel with octagonal breech, choked

modified. 13 1/4"pull to checkered wood butt. 1 1/2" - 1 7/8" drop. Lightly-

figured, prominently-grained walnut stock with horn-tipped, snap-fastened

splinter forend, classic point-pattern checkering, straight English grip, and

vacant gold initial oval. Light scroll engraved action with peninsular lock

and rebounding hammer. Weight: 5lbs, 1oz. Built 1897. London nitro re-

proof in 2012. Bright bore and dead tight with forend fitted.


J M Marlin Ballard No. 6 1/2 Third Model .38-55 $14,975

Rigby Off-Hand Mid Range

30" round barrel with Rigby flats, the top flat with Ballard banner intertwined

around an arrow, engraved at muzzle and with Ballard globe front sight.

Checkered, figured walnut, high-comb stock with horn-inlaid S-curved pistol

grip, cheekpiece, horn schnabel forend tip with extended widow's peak, &

nickel-plated brass Farrow-pattern scheutzen buttplate. Scroll engraved,

rebated and faceted receiver with elk on left and buffalo on right. Finger

loop loading lever. Checkered single trigger. Vernier tang sight. Weight:

9lbs, 11oz. Built ca 1880. 95% blue, 75% casecolors. Excellent bore.


Custom Marlin No.6 Off-Hand Scheutzen Rifle .22 LR $14,250


28" octagon-to-round barrel with fine wedding-band transition, windage-

adjustable spirit-level globe front sight, sleeved from .40 calibre to .22LR by

Arthur Hubalek. Superbly executed new custom stock of highly figured

European walnut, in Ballard's traditional off-hand scheutzen style, with

horn-inlaid schnabel forend tip, horn-inlaid S-curve pistol grip, classic point-

pattern checkering, high comb, cheekpiece, perch belly and silver-plated

Swiss buttplate. Silver plated action with rebated frame, double-set triggers,

ball-and-spur lever with smooth walnut inserts and mid-range vernier tang

peep sight, scroll and game scene engraved by Arnold Griebel, ca 1963---running

rabbits on the right and a squirrel in woodland scene on left. Winchester A-5

scope with fine crosshairs on micrometer-adjustable target mounts. Pull: 13

7/8". Weight: 11lbs, 11oz. Mfd ca 1887. Retaining 99%+ barrel blue, 99%

receiver silver plating and 98% hammer and breechblock casehardening

colors. Excellent bore.


H W Mortimer Cased Pair Sidelock Flintlock .64 calibre $8,950

7" flat-topped round damascus smoothbore barrels with brass bead front

sights, engraved LONDON. V-notch rear sights. Stocked to the muzzles and

with fully checkered bag-handled grips and with vacant silver escutcheons

atop wrists. Lightly-engraved sidelock actions with rain-proof pans, roller-

bearing frizzens, and sliding safeties. Long-tang triggerguard with pineapple

finials. Brass-tipped ramrod with worm retained in fire-blued pipe (one, alas,

missing). In retailer R. Essex's green-baize-lined oak case with bullet mould,

oil bottle, powder flask, cleaning rod with tips, flints, balls, turnscrew, and

bone-handled brush. Retaining 80% barrel brown, 90% original high-polish

blue on triggerguards, traces of original casehardening colors on locks.

Even the engraver's stadia lines for the maker's name are still visible on the



Pieper, Liege Side-Cocking 16ga, 2 5/8" $4,295

Toplever Boxlock

29 1/2" SxS barrels with fluid steel muzzles and breeches---and fine

damascus tubes in between, matted concave rib, sling swivel, choked

improved cylinder & full. 14 1/8" pull from front trigger to original black

hardrubber buttplate. Figured walnut stocks with Anson-release splinter

forend, horn capped pistol grip, classic point-pattern checkering, beaded

pancake cheekpiece, and rear swivel. Fine scroll engraved action with

double Purdey underbites, Greener crossbolt and rib-extension fourth

fastener. Weight: 6lbs, 3 1/2oz. 40% barrel brown. 20% original

casehardening colors. Tight, and with excellent bores.


E. Remington & Sons Hepburn No. 3 Long Range .44 2 6/10" $12,500

Creedmoor Target Rifle, Grade C Remington

34" tapered round barrel with Rigby flats on top and sides of breech. Spirit-

level windgauge front sight. Two-position long range vernier tang sight.

Figured walnut stock with checkered splinter forend with High Grade

hardrubber tip, wrap-around checkered round knob pistol grip and early-

style plain checkered hardrubber shotgun buttplate. Smooth single trigger.

6228 on underside of barrel. 21 on breech end of forend and on lower

receiver tang. 14 1/2" pull. Weight: 9lbs, 13oz. Built ca 1880. Retaining 85%

barrel blue and 60% receiver casehardening colors.


Remington Double Derringer .41 Rimfire $595

3" Over & under barrels, marked on top: E. Remington & Sons. Ilion. N.Y. /

Elliot's Patent Dec. 12th 1865. With extractor. Checkered black hardrubber

grips. Sound, uncracked hinge. Mfd between 1870 - 1888. Traces of original



W & C Scott The Premier Sidelock 12ga, 2 1/2" $3,395

30" SxS damascus barrels with flat matted rib choked full & full. 14" pull from

front trigger to striated black composition buttplate. 1 7/8" - 3 1/4" drop.

Highly figured walnut stocks with Scott's pushbutton-release splinter

forend, round-knob Prince-of-Wales grip, classic point-pattern checkering.

Sidelock action with Scott's patent crystal cocking indicators, double

Purdey underbolts, active dolls head third fastener and automatic top tang

safety. Engraved with wood ducks on left; geese on right and herons on

underside, all surrounded with very fine scroll. Maltese cross inlaid in gold

on triggerguard. Weight: 7lbs, 2oz. Built 1887. Crack at wrist professionally

repaired. 20% barrel brown. Traces original casehardening colors.


Custom Sharps Freund 1878 Borchardt Rifle .50-140 Sharps $13,750

30" original Sharps heavy full octagon barrel, marked both Old Reliable /

Sharps Rifle Co and Freund's Patent 1880, Durango Colo., with Freund's

patent blade front sight and tangent rear sight. Highly figured English

walnut stock by Classic Arms Corporation with horn forend tip, classic

point-pattern checkering with mullered borders, sidepanel details, horn-

inlaid S-curve pistol grip, long range vernier tang peep sight, beaded pancake

cheekpiece and checkered steel buttplate. Original Sharps Borchardt action,

casecolored, fine border-scroll engraved and with two bison on right and

wolves circling a bison on left by Robert Swartley. In full-length oak trunk

case with engraved brass escutcheon.


J H Snelling, Bronze Yacht Canon 2  1/4 inch bore $39,750

New York

36" bronze barrel with touch hole and integral trunnions; 4 1/4" diameter at

muzzle; 6 5/16" diameter at breech. Mahogany naval carriage with bronze

mountings and elevation screw. 8" diameter iron-rimmed wooden wheels

on bronze axles. 18" overall height, measured with barrel horizontal.

Absolutely magnificent. Very fine condition.
