Original drawing, a snarling wolverine and a growling mountain lion arguing over freshly killed elk---realized in steel across both sides of the receiver.
Description: 24" tapered round cryogenically-treated Half-Moon barrel with half-band swivel base and quarter rib. Exhibition Turkish walnut stock by Darwin Hensley with ebony forend tip, classic point-pattern wrap-around checkering with mullered borders, steel capped pistol grip, inletted and pedestalled rear swivel base, beaded cheekpiece and steel buttplate. 14" pull. Weight: 7lbs, 13oz. Metalwork by Steve Heilmann: casehardened, scalloped-back Winchester 1885 High Wall action, meticulously polished inside with several gold-finished internal parts and sculpted loading lever. Leupold Vari-X III 3.5-10x matte-finish scope with fine duplex reticle on custom made rings fitted directly to quarter rib. Extensive exhibition engraving by Eric Gold: mountain lion with elk kill on coin-finished left, snarling wolverine on coin-finished right, bobcat head on grip cap and roaring grizzly on buttplate. All surrounded with dozens of gold-inlaid roses and sublimely graceful gold-inlaid scroll. Winner of the GRS Award and the Engravers Choice Award at the FEGA show 2002. New condition.
Provenance: Purchased by Hallowell & Co. from the original owner who had commissioned it from the individual craftsmen, in August, 2009.
