Snap Cap

Sectional drawing of a shotgun Snap Cap

Snap Caps for 12 Gauge Shotgun,                                           .410 Shotgun,                                         .45 Revolver,                                              .30'06 Rifle

Snap Cap - A dummy cartridge with a spring-loaded "primer". Used to check a firearm for proper feeding, action, extraction and ejection without the inconvenience of using live ammunition. Because the spring-loaded "primer" absorbs the impact of the hardened firing pin, the pin is much less likely to shatter than if the gun were to be "dry-fired" on an empty chamber.
